5 Korean Dramas To Binge Watch Right Now

Wednesday, February 21, 2018

You already know how much I like to share with you my current obsessions and Korean dramas are definitely one of the recent ones. I honestly never even thought that I would be so deep in K-dramas world as usually all of my obsessions last for just a few months, especially when it comes to TV.

I've discovered K-dramas last summer and since then I watched so many of them. They are the best option if you want to laugh, cry and fall in love in two days as that’s how long it would probably take you to binge-watch a Korean drama.

STRONG GRIL BONG-SOO (2017)
This drama is about young girl Bong-Soon who was born with superhuman like strength. Her strength is hereditary and passed along only to the women in her family. Her dream is to create a video game with herself as the main character. One day, Bong-Soon helps out a bus driver who is being attacked by a thug. During this time, Min-Hyuk drives up to the scene of Bong-Soon beating up the group of thugs. Min-Hyuk is the CEO of video gaming company Ainsoft. He has been receiving anonymous threats and even been followed by an unknown person. Min-Hyuk believes Bong-Soon would make a great bodyguard with her amazing strength.

Besides offering Bong-Soon high pay, he even offers her the chance of working in the planning department of his gaming company if she does well. Of course, there is a romance on the horizon. Although this drama has a lot of sweet and funny scenes it also has serious moments as well.

I'm NOT A ROBOT (2017)
As for this drama, the main character is Min-Kyu who is the largest shareholder of a finance company. He is very handsome and intelligent, but because he is allergic to people he lives in seclusion. Ji-A is an aspiring entrepreneur and works as a personal shopper. She receives a phone call from her ex-boyfriend Baek-Gyun. Her ex-boyfriend is a world-renown developer of android robots. His latest creation is the android Aji 3, which he built with the same physical appearance as Ji-A, but an accident has broken Aji 3. It gets more interesting when he receives an order for Aji 3 from Min-Kyu with the promise of more investment money if he's satisfied.

Being in such a predicament, Baek-Gyun offers money to Ji-A if she will go to Min-Kyu's home and pretend to be Aji 3. Ji-A is in need of money and accepts the offer. I’ve never watched drama like this before. It has so many heart-breaking and sad moments and you can easily connect with the characters.

JUST BETWEEN LOVER (2018)
This drama is completely different from the first two I mentioned. It deals with depression, mental health and the meaning and purpose of life. Lee Gang-Doo dreamed of becoming a soccer player, but an accident ended those dreams. His father died in the accident and he broke his leg. Because of the accident, he spent 3 years in rehab. The accident changed him and now he doesn't have anything and just wastes his days. Lee Gang-Doo then meets Ha Moon-Soo. Ha, Moon-Soo makes architecture models. She also endured the same accident that killed her younger sister. She has suffered from guilt that she survived. She has lived her life earnestly while suppressing her feelings. After meeting Lee Gang-Doo, Ha Moon-Soo begins to express her hidden feelings.

From all the dramas I’ve watched this is by far my absolute favorite one. The way it was filmed, the plot, the actors, the whole intent of this drama is incredible. The acting was on another level and you could really put yourself in that position and cheer for the main character.

OH MY VENUS (2016)
This is a very sweet and romantic drama but it won’t make you cringe. Kim Young-Ho is a personal trainer for Hollywood stars. Even though he comes from wealthy family background, he suffered a devastating injury during his childhood days. Now, he overcomes his problems with patience and stubbornness. Kang Joo-Eun is a 33-years-old lawyer. She has struggled to support her family. She was the prettiest girl in her school when she was a teenager but because of life, she gained a lot of weight and not so attractive. After finding out that Kim Young-Ho is back in Korea she wants him to train her.

Of course, that leads to a lot of funny and cute moments between the two. I love this drama doesn’t emphasizes the importance physical beauty yet it equals beauty with health. For Kang Young-Ho the most beautiful women is the one that is healthy and takes care of her body and mind.
