The books I’d recommend for cozy evenings, rainy afternoons, and everything in between.
For most book lovers, Autumn is the best season to snuggle in and dive deep into their current read. Evenings get a little cozier; rainy afternoons call for lighting a candle, grabbing a blanket, a warm drink, and a good book. I personally read the most during the summer and Autumn season, so I’m always excited when this time of the year arrives.
After reading hundreds of books, these are the ones I would recommend the most. They give a completely autumn vibe, which is why I think anyone can find the one that they would enjoy picking up.

- The Pumpkin Spice Café — cozy small-town romance
- Powerless — fantasy, tension, and escapism

1. 🍁 A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
This is still one of my all-time favorite books, and that comes from a romance reader. When I picked it up, I thought it would be just another enjoyable read, but I didn’t have high expectations. I ended up bawling my eyes out and laughing out loud.
This book might not be for everyone, as it does deal with some heavy topics, but in a not-heavy way. It covers themes like loneliness, friendship, grief, community, and human connection. A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman, in my opinion, has the perfect balance between humor and real-life problems.
I think it’s a perfect Autumn read, as it has that emotional, gloomy vibe about it. This is a perfect book if you want a heartfelt, meaningful book that will make you both laugh and cry.
2. 🎃 The Pumpkin Spice Café by Laurie Gilmore
The Pumpkin Spice Café is cozy, charming, and a perfect small-town romance. It is part of the Dream Harbor series. As you can tell from the title, it is set in autumn, which makes it a perfect pick. This is the kind of book you read when you want to relax snuggled in bed while it’s raining outside.
Autumn season is also known as Gilmore Girls season, and this book gives exactly that. It doesn’t overcomplicate things or make you overthink; it’s straightforward, cozy, and just plain enjoyable.
It’s not life-changing literature, but it’s exactly what it sets out to be: a fun, feel-good read with lovable characters, smooth pacing, and enough charm to keep you smiling. If you love cozy romance, small towns, cafes, and aesthetic fall vibes, this is a book for you.
3. ⚔️ Powerless by Lauren Roberts
I think that fantasy is always a good choice for this time of the year. Powerless follows a story filled with slow-burning romance and magical intrigue. I would recommend this book if you want to start reading fantasy. It is an interesting book that dives into a world where power dynamics aren’t just about magic but also about relationships.
You slowly get a sense of the magical world, and even if it seems complex at first, it’s easy to follow because the pacing keeps you hooked.
This book made me realize that fantasy doesn’t have to feel overwhelming; it can be just as engaging and romantic as the contemporary books I love. It is perfect for readers who love romantasy, enemies-to-lovers, and competitions.

If you want to get into a cozy mood, any of these books are the perfect choice. I’m a big mood reader, and these are genuinely books I would recommend to anyone wanting something easy to read but perfect for rainy and gloomy autumn days.
