Tips To Stay Healthy In College

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

Staying healthy is definitely something we all need to try our best at. Especially in these winter months where you can easy catch some bug or cold. As a college student taking car of my health used to  take a back seat which is definitely something I wanted to change.

STAY HYDRATED
Drinking enough water through out the day is very important. Especially if you have a tight class schedule.  Trying to drink at least 2 liters of water can drastically improve your metabolism.  I like to always take my water bottle with me wherever I go. There is so much ways you can spice it up a little bit. Putting some fresh lemon slices or vitamin tablets in it.

MOVE
Walking or biking wherever you can is definitely something to have in mind. I'm so pleased that my college isn't that far away from my dorm  so I'm walking every morning. It's so important to just keep moving. Go to the gym or take joga classes, walk or jog through the park. Just keep moving as much as you can.

SLEEP
Having a good night sleep will make your body energized and ready for the day. Not getting enough and quality sleep can lead to some serious health problems. The first illness we think about is insomnia but not getting enough sleep can lead to heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes and much more. So instead of staying up studying until early in the morning change a little bit your sleeping schedule and maybe you can wake up earlier to study.

WASH HANDS
Using public transport and being surrounded with a lot of people can cause picking up a bacteria. Washing hands after being in public and doing certain activities is one o the best ways to avoid getting ill. Hand sanitizer  are the perfect solution when you're on the go. They are small and easy to carry with you.

EAT DIVERSE
It's easy to fall into a routine of eating fast food all day every day. Occasionally treating yourself with fast food is totally okay but it's very important to have balanced and divers meals. Meals that consist a lot of fruit and vegetables.  In my canteen there isn't always a best offer so I always try to have fruits in my dorm room and instant soups.
