Summer Job & What I Learned From It

Wednesday, August 5, 2015

I had my first Summer job when I was 16 years old. I think that that's the right age to start working and learning how to make money yourself and not depend on your family all the time.  I worked on a gas station and washed car's windshield. It's a job where you are in standing position almost 8 hours.

When a car comes to a gas station I ask a driver would he  or her like me to wash his car's windshield and if he wants he can give me as much money as he wants. So that 's basically what I do. I really started to respect money but first work. It's not the same to work for money and just ask your parent's to give it to you. I like that feeling of independence and relaying on my capabilities.

I worked there two years ago, last year and I'm working there now. It's a two week job. I'm working with my cousin and two other girls. I really like it because I met so many new people from all over the world. They are going to Adriatic Sea so they stop at the gas station. As I see new people and interact with them constantly and observe their behavior. Like every nation and the persons are so different. I met people from Great Britain, Italia, Germany, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, France, Slovenia, Hungary, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Denmark, Switzerland, China and so many other that I can't remember right now.

Every year I have something I want to purchase. Having that in my minds it keeps me motivated and ready to work harder. This year that is driving lessons. I want to be able to pay at least a half of the price by myself. I know that my parents could pay it but I really don't want them to do that. I want driving lessons to be first big thing I payed with my own money that I worked hard for.

So if you can I would hardly recommend you to get a Summer job. I'm sure that if you search a little bit you can find something you would like to do. You can maybe help some of your old neighbors and they can give you some money for your help. I'm sure you will feel so much better and happier.

Do you have a Summer Job and if you do where are you working?
