Ups & Downs Of Working From Home

Are you working from home?

Most people dream about working from the comfort of their own home. It is a dream that a lot of people accomplished and love but some didn't find it the right choice for them. I would be lying if I said that I’ve never thought about it and I'm sure that a lot of you who are reading this post are curious about it.

When I first started to think about it I could only find positive things that made me find this job as a perfect one. Something I forgot is that there isn't such a thing as a perfect job. While working from home I've got to realize a few things that I want to share with you.

Although I’m thrilled that I found a job I can do from my bedroom I still wished I knew a little bit more before. That’s why I want to share my ups and downs of working from home for all of you who are looking for that kind of job.

UPS OF WORKING FROM HOME

ENVIRONMENT MAKES  DIFFERENCE

For some people, the working space has a big impact on their productivity. I am definitely one of them. While you are working from home you decide where your “office” will be. I realized that the desk area is the most suited one as it is the place that is in my case meant for working.

Having a clean space is necessary as otherwise you will feel distracted and won’t be able to get things done. Firmly deciding where your workspace is will help you get used to the working environment and you will be able to finish your tasks faster.

YOU CAN SET THE TEMPO

I don’t have a strict frame of working hours as those who work 9/5 have. Although I need to work for 8 hours a day I can arrange those hours throughout the day depending on my schedule. What I realized works best for me is when I finish all of my work in the morning.

Then I know that I am done and I can focus on other things. When I leave work for the afternoon or evening I can’t completely relax as I know that there is still work waiting for me. Although there are some situations when I do need to leave work for later I try my best to just reduce that.

NO TRAFFIC JAMS

One of the best things about working from home is that you will not get into a traffic jam. I know that for some commuting to work is very long and exhausting. While working from home you will have more time to get ready and start to work in a much better mood. If you are an introvert like me then not having to deal with traffic and a lot of people early in the morning is one of the best things about working from home.

DOWNS OF WORKING FROM HOME

IT CAN BE LONELY

Working from home means working alone. You aren’t in an office with a lot of people and you can’t really chat with your colleges. There is a lot of time that you spend all by yourself and if you are someone who needs a company then working from home might not be the best option.

I personally don’t mind this aspect of working from home as I concentrate better when I’m all alone in my working mode without feeling the pressure that I used to feel while working 9/5. This is something you should have in mind if you are interested in working from your home.

IT IS ALL ON YOU

How much you work and how fast you are getting the job done is all on you. The responsibility is quite big as there is no that strict working feeling that 9/5 jobs have. It is easy to have that “I don’t feel like it” or “I’ll just do it later” moments when you just want to lay in your bed longer or watch shows when you should be actually working.

Organization and self-restriction is something you need to develop. It is important to know that although you may have a boss you still need to fill that role for yourself. Act like you are working on a 9/5 job. You wouldn’t be able to slack there so don’t do that while you are working from home as well.

TOO MUCH PRESSURE

Some from home jobs don’t have a strict paycheck as the regular ones. You get paid by the amount of work you’ve done in a month. That means that the number on your paycheck will be as high or as low as you made it be. Then you can put too much pressure on yourself and drain the last grain of energy from yourself.

It is important to have the balance. Setting the limit is very important. You need to know when you’re working hour is done. Otherwise, you won’t be able to have a life besides your job. Because there are no strict working hours you need to make one. It will help you to do much better work in a time set that works the best for you.

OVERALL THOUGH ON WORKING FROM HOME

In my personal opinion working from home is an amazing way of earning money while not being under so much stress. It is especially like that when your job requires things that you already know how to and love to do. There are more and more jobs that are done from home so I’m sure that you will be able to find something that works the best for you.

What I wanted to get across in this post is that it is all about balance. There are always advantages and disadvantages of each working place but if the job is for you then you will be able to see more advantages.

Do you or have you ever worked from home?
