Chocolate Rum Cake

Monday, April 17, 2017

I started baking from quite young age and loved it ever since. I always loved to go through my moms old cookbooks and look ant all the incredible recipes that I'm going to make one day. I like to combine traditional recipes with new twists. This Chocolate Rum Cake is one of the first cakes I ever baked and it's still one of my favorites.

INGREDIENTS

                    BISCUIT                                                                                  CREME
6 egg whites                                                                              6 egg yolks
200 grams of sugar                                                              250 grams of icing sugar
200 grams of walnuts                                                      100 grams of dark chocolate
                                                                                                               100 grams of butter
                                                                                                              3 tablespoons of rum

PREPARATION

  • For the biscuit you need to whisk egg whites whit sugar until you got a firm snow. Add walnuts and mix them gently with spoon. Put it into the baking pan and bake it for 30 minutes on 180 degrees.
  • Mix egg yolks with icing sugar. Put it over the steam so it gets thicker. After 10 minutes add chocolate and rum. Put it aside until its cooled down. Then mix in butter.
  • Pour the cream over the biscuit. Put the cake into the fridge.

It's very simple to do but so delicious. I bake it for every holiday.  The biscuit is very light which goes amazing with the thick cream. Rum complements chocolate and gives it a different taste. I really hope you'll try to make it and enjoy it as much as I do. xo
