If you are looking for a book that will pull you into a small–town rodeo romance drama, then Flawless by Elsie Silver should be your next read. The Chestnut Spring series seems to have the whole booktok in its hands.
After so many books being placed in big cities like New York, reading about the dynamic of a mature small-town man and the independent woman ticked a lot of romance lovers' boxes. In this spoiler-free review, I’m going to share with you my thoughts on this book.

Book Overview
As already mentioned, Flawless by Elsie Silver is the firs book from the very popular Chestnut Spring series. There are currently 5 books in the series all following different couples.
Flawless by Elsie Silver is the kind of romance that pulls you in from the very first page. Set against the backdrop of a small-town rodeo scene, it follows Rhett Eaton—a hot-headed bull rider with a PR problem—and Summer Hamilton, the polished, no-nonsense PR expert sent to keep him in check.
What starts as a reluctant partnership quickly simmers into undeniable chemistry, with all the charm, banter, and tension you could hope for in a slow-burn romance. It’s heartfelt, spicy, and surprisingly emotional, perfect for readers who love cowboy tropes, forced proximity, and characters with real depth.
Main Tropes in Flawless:
Forced Proximity – Against what she had in mind when she started working, Summer has to live with Rhett to keep him out of trouble for his PR scandal.
Grumpy/Sunshine – What is a romance book without the grumpy main character? Rhett is the gruff, cocky bull rider with a chip on his shoulder, while Summer is professional, grounded, and warm (but tough when she needs to be).
Celebrity/Normal Person – Rhett is a famous rodeo star with a complicated reputation, and Summer is the down-to-earth PR rep suddenly thrown into his chaotic world.
Small-Town Romance – Set in the charming Chestnut Springs, the setting plays a big part in the story’s warmth and sense of community.
Slow Burn with Great Banter – The romantic tension builds gradually, making their connection feel natural and well-developed. This is an open-door romance so if you don’t like that I would recommend you skip this book or like me just skip those scenes.
What I Loved
One of the things I truly enjoyed about Flawless was the setting—this was my first time reading a small-town, countryside romance, and it completely won me over. The charm of Chestnut Springs added so much warmth and authenticity to the story.
I also loved how we got to know the main characters through their interactions with others—it made them feel layered and real. The chemistry between Rhett and Summer was really well written. Their banter felt natural and engaging, and I appreciated the emotional growth they both experienced throughout the book.
While I’m personally not the biggest fan of heavy spice or dirty talk, I found myself still enjoying their connection by skipping those scenes. What kept me hooked was the heartfelt dialogue, inner struggles, and the slow emotional build-up that gave their romance depth.
Final Thoughts + Rating
Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. I would rate it 3.5/5, as I read better books than this one, but had a good time while I was reading it. I think that it is a great pick if you need a light romance book that will keep you interested and engaged. I would definitely like to keep on reading through this series and see which of the books from this series I would enjoy the most.
