Top Tips to Prevent and Soothe Sunburns




Let's be honest, summer is glorious. Long sunny days, beach trips, and that feeling of warmth on your skin – it's pure bliss. But for me, there's one major downside: the fear of getting sunburned.


Maybe you can relate. The thought of bright red, peeling skin makes me want to run for the nearest umbrella. So, over the years, I've become a bit of a sun protection pro (and a champion shade seeker!). I've also learned a lot about soothing the occasional sunburn that sneaks up on me.

Here's the thing: while I love avoiding the sun's harsh rays, I also know the importance of getting some vitamin D. So, I've developed a strategy that allows me to enjoy the outdoors safely and comfortably.



Prevention is Key: My Sun Protection Arsenal

Sunscreen is my absolute best friend during the summer months. I don't leave the house without applying a generous amount (and reapplying often!). Here are some of my favorite sunscreens that you can find at ShopMy.

Even with the best intentions, sometimes a sunburn happens. Here's what I do to minimize the pain and discomfort:

  • Cool it down: As soon as possible, get out of the sun and into a cool shower or bath. Avoid using hot water, as this can further irritate your skin.
  • Hydrate from within: Sunburns can dehydrate you, so it's crucial to drink plenty of water. Cooling drinks like cucumber water or coconut water can also be soothing.
