4 Simple Ways To Bring The Outdoors In

Sunday, May 17, 2020

How long has it been since you spend a decent amount of time in nature?

For a few months, it's been a privilege to go outside and spend time in nature. Thankfully, things are starting to look better but it is still quite overwhelming to actually leave home and be surrounded by people. We all need to spend time in nature and breath in fresh air to stay sane and healthy but the current situation does make it a little bit harder to fully enjoy our time outside. So what can we do?

Who knew that something most of us took for granted could be something we now want to do so much? It definitely is for the best to minimize our outdoor activities, especially since things are only starting to look better in certain countries and it should stay like that. To make it a little bit easier and tolerable here are some ways you can bring the outdoor in your home. Of course, nothing can replace the real experience we can only ger in nature, but we need to work with what we have until then.

LISTEN TO NATURE SOUND PLAYLISTS

It is easy to feel anxious and trapped when you are not allowed to leave your home or feel like it will mean exposure to unnecessary risk. It is even more frustrating when you live in a city and having a little nature getaway was something that made you feel at ease. Whenever you start to feel like you are trapped turn on some nature sound playlist. There are a lot of them you can listen to on YouTube. You can choose which sound you want to listen to. If you love the seaside then the sound of waves could make you feel super relaxed, and if you love the noises of the forest listen to birds chirping.

To make them even more realistic, close your eyes, and imagine that you are in nature and actually hearing all these beautiful noises around you. Of course, nothing can truly replace the real sound and feel of nature but this can hopefully at least help your anxiety to go away and make you feel at ease. Listening to nature sounds will make you remember all the beautiful noises that can only be heard in nature. Some meditating apps have nature sounds in the background which is also very helpful when you need extra help.

WATCH DOCUMENTARIES

I know that some people find documentaries to be very boring and poor quality which is something I honestly can't really understand. Documentaries are such a great resource to learn about almost everything. Some of the newest ones are absolutely incredible and definitely worth watching. Watching documentaries is one way to bring the outdoors in as you can travel far away from your home to whole other incredible places while staying safe.

Watching and learning about different parts of the world can make us appreciate it even more. Sometimes we don't even realize how even the tiniest things we do in our daily life can either hurt or cure the nature around us. So take this time to bring nature in through your TV. Documentaries will occupy your time and make you a little bit closer to the wonders of nature. There are also a lot of short documentaries you can watch online for free.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR PLANTS

I'm sure that most of you are plant moms. You probably have plants in your home because you love to have them around but did you know that there are a lot of benefits about having plants in your home? They are perfect air purifiers. They can improve air quality and humidity levels. If you don't have a plant then it is the right time to get one. Especially so if you've been feeling suffocated in your home. Plants can make you feel calmer and happier. It is also proven that plants reduce stress which is a good enough reason to adopt a plant or two.

I know that a lot of people are not used to caring about plants as they think that they don't have enough time and are afraid of killing them. Well, you don't need to be an expert as there are so many plants that are easy to keep alive. My personal favorites are succulents. They look so pretty and are very easy to take care of. Another great reason to have plants in your home is the fact that they can improve your concentration, productivity, and creativity. Once you get a plant you'll want more and more of them.

MAKE A SMALL INDOOR GARDEN

Indoor gardens have bin a hit for quite some time. More and more people are adjusting conventional gardening to their own possibilities. Gardening is such a great way to keep your mind of negative things happening in the world. The best thing is the whole journey of planting the seed, seeing it grow, and then harvesting the fruit. You don't need to even have a lot of space. Just planing a tomato seed in one pot is perfect.

Those who have a balcony can even take it a step further and make a proper balcony garden. Gardening is such a calming activity that will surely help you cope with everything going on. If you are not sure how to actually start the gardening journey then you can always find tips and tricks on Pinterest or online. There are some very creative and handy ways to do it. Another great thing about it is that you can have fresh vegetables or herbs around the whole year.
